Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
