On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard call records and evidence retrieved from phones logged Ms Wandelt repeatedly requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test over the past two years.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is considered the most publicized missing child cases and continues to be open.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

A separate recorded message, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm overweight and plain like Madeleine used to be, but I know what I believe."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail expressed: "Suppose there is a small chance that I'm her? What then? Is that not important for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a life here in Poland, I just want to discover," she added.

The panel was informed that via electronic messages, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a DNA test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a bid to show a resemblance to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and claimed to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with the police force who gathered the evidence, told the court there "seemed to lack any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore communicated with acquaintances of the McCanns, according to the phone records.

On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann picked up a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "the wrong phone."

During that incident Ms Wandelt deposited a voicemail on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will continue and I intend to demonstrate my position."

The court learned the co-defendant established a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt preceding assisting her on a trip to the McCanns' residence in that area in that winter.

Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had reached out through communication app to Mrs McCann to say the media had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be taken seriously in the period leading up to the visit to the village, Leicestershire, in last December.

The court was told communications between the two defendants, in last November, discussing endeavoring to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her trash or from cutlery at a dining venue.

"We need to assert ourselves," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.

On the occasion of the appearance to their residence, Mrs Spragg sent a message which said: "We are positioned adjacent to the McCanns' house with our lights out resembling detectives. I had hoped to achieve this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be involved in this with the McCanns."

The trial continues.
