The Canadian skeleton team have been absolved of accusations that they rigged a selection race for the Winter Olympics, which allegedly denied rival athletes a spot to secure their place.

US skeleton veteran Katie Uhlaender alleged the team from Canada of pulling four of its six competitors from a recent event in New York. The allegation was this shrunk the competition, making a lower points pool available. Despite winning the event, Uhlaender did not secure her berth for the Milan-Cortina Games.

“Existing federation regulations permit National Federations to withdraw athletes from competition at any time,” declared the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF).

Following an investigation, the federation announced it would take no action, rejecting the allegations as no rules were broken of its regulations.

For Katie Uhlaender, the 2026 Olympics are planned to be her last Games. Her path to qualification remains, the probable US team spots are projected for other athletes. Uhlaender is a 2012 world gold medalist whose best Games result was just off the podium in Sochi 2014.
