The children's author David Walliams lost his contract with book publisher.

The author

Acclaimed young adult author and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his longtime publishing house, as confirmed by the firm.

A representative for the firm stated: "After careful consideration, and with the guidance of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK has decided not to publish future works by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the conclusion was made after an review of allegations of inappropriate behaviour involving women.

The company has not elaborated on the motivations for this action, noting: "We refrain from speaking about internal matters."

A Highly Successful Publishing History

Walliams ranks among Britain's most successful children's authors, with sales exceeding more than 60 million copies worldwide in 55 languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins back in 2008.

Some of his books, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as television films.

He has published in excess of 40 works altogether, which features a Christmas book named *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins in October.

From Screen to Page

His initial claim to fame came on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has been honored with National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE several years ago in recognition of his work for charity and the arts.

This development follows the selection of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss this past October.
