The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest action-packed instalment that players explored was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for embracing action and mayhem with equal glee, all while weaving engaging, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two producers whose work have exemplified all of those elements.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' style by introducing a different location and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing trust and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can change from season to season, while always examining the essence of humanity through this multifaceted and unpredictable lens, is a dream come true. I’m eager to work with Rob and present our shared bold, ambitious sensibility to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
